Abstract: The proportional integral derivative (PID) and the Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) are widely used in industry control system. The objective of this paper is to compare the control quality of two controllers to speed control DC motor. The paper will include design and development controller in Matlab/Simulink, both controllers have also been applied to an experimental model in the laboratory to assess the control quality. According to simulation and experimental results, the FLC has more stabilized and faster response as compared to PID. Therefore, the FLC is better than PID controller.

Keywords:
DC motor, PID controller, Fuzzy logic controller, speed control, Matlab/Simulink.
